Would you make a deal with the darkness to get what you deeply desire? Would you trade your soul? And could you deal with the reality of the deal gone wrong? Because it always does. I liked this book a lot, even though many have called is somewhat boring. No, it's not an in your face mystery or passionate love story. Instead it kind of meanders through love and the value of life. Addie is a complex and interesting young woman in my opinion. And haven't we all, at one time or another, thought about freedom and what it would be like to escape our small world and obligations. Not many of us are willing to pay the price like Addie. Lack of obvious external conflict might be why some didn't like or even finish the book, although Addie struggles every day to feed and shelter herself. She finds trouble but manages to escape, sometimes with help, and she continues on her way, seeking freedom and knowledge. The subtle and creative way the story was told made this a memorable read and many readers seem to agree and the book is popular. Grab a copy when you have the time. Enjoy.
