I always grab C. J. Tudor's books. I loved the Chalk Man so much and always hope the author's latest effort will live up to the Chalk Man in elements of mystery and character. The Burning Girls is the story of Jack (yes, that's her name- Jack) and her daughter and their move to a small English village. A group of quirky, mean, and secretive characters greet Jack when she arrives and she quickly becomes engrossed in an apparent suicide. Meanwhile Jack's daughter is trying to fit into this new environment, with only moderate success, as happens with a lot of teenagers. I had to re-read passages on occasion as their are so many Vicars and Reverends, something I am unfamiliar with and really no fault of the author. A fantastic setting and a touch of paranormal round out this offering by C. J. Tudor. Definitely add this one to your TBR list, just be prepared to give it your full attention.
